This trip is for those daring enough to challenge the three main mountain ranges of Western Canada in one week. From Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies to Whistler in the Coast Mountains. In between you can expect challenging big climbs, unbelievably beautiful scenery and long days in the saddle. If you are a serious road cyclist and enjoy back to back century rides and you are looking for THE CHALLENGE OF A LIFETIME with a maximum satisfaction factor, this trip is for you! You will ride a total of 982km or 1010km, 610mi 0r 628mi and climb over 11,000meter/38,600ft.

Canadian Mountain Traverse Lake Louise to Whistler Itinerary

Arrive the day before the tour in Lake Louise. If you fly into Calgary we can arrange a shuttle for you. Pre-ride meet at 6.pm in Lake Louise the day before the tour.

Itinerary

Trip starts in Lake Louise, AB and ends in Whistler, BC

Day 1 (Sunday)

Lake Louise to Sunwapta Falls

From Lake Louise to Sunwapta Falls 180k / 112 mi. Elevation gain 1900m / 6200ft From the Bow Valley over Bow Pass into the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Then climb up Sunwapta Pass, ride past the Columbia Icefields and descend to Sunwapta Falls.

Day 2

Sunwapta to Mt Robson

From Sunwapta to Mt Robson 147k / 91mi. Elevation gain 1100m / 3600ft Through the Athabasca Valley to Jasper and across the Continental Divide at Yellowhead Pass to the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

Day 3

Mt Robson to Blue River

Mt Robson to Blue River 121k / 75 mi. Elevation gain 809m / 2650ft. Through the North Thompson River valley and through the Cariboo Mountains to Blue River.

Day 4

Blue River to Lac des Roches

Blue River to Lac des Roches 171k / 106 mi . Elevation gain 2034m / 6600ft. South on Yellowhead Highway and high up into the Cariboo Plateau with it's beautiful lakes.

Day 5

Lac des Roches to Clinton

Lac des Roches to Clinton 127k / 79mi. Elevation gain 1030m / 3380ft Recovery Day through lake country and into the ranchlands on the Gold rush route,

Day 6

Clinton to Lilloet

Clinton to Lilloet 107k/ 66 mi. Elevation gain 1117m / 3660ft. Emerging from endless forests into the semi-arid canyonlands of British Columbia’s largest river, the Fraser River.

Day 7 (Friday)

Lilloet to Whistler

Lilloet to Whistler 133k / 82 miles. Elevation gain 2550m / 8360ft. From the Fraser Canyon into the forbidding wilderness of the Coast Mountain Range. This stage is extremely scenic but with the steepest grades of the trip it is also very challenging. Finish in Whistler Village and celebrate! Hotel in Whistler at your leisure.

$650 CAD deposit per person is due with booking. If you are part of an exclusive group booking a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the trip fee is due at the time of booking. Balance is payable 60 days prior to the trip. If trip is cancelled more than 60 days prior to departure we refund the deposit except for a $200 CAD cancellation fee. If trip is cancelled 31-60 days prior to departure 50% of the trip fee is non-refundable. If trip is cancelled 30 days or less before departure trip fee is non-refundable. We do recommend trip cancellation insurance.
