Sea to Sky Mountain Bike Sampler (June)
Arrive in Squamish, Canada's Outdoor and Adventure Capital in the morning or the day before. Upon meeting we will do the bike rental fitting, then we will head out on Squamish’s amazing trail network. Our first day will take us on some moderately technical trails around Alice Lake. Today everyone can find their legs and we will assess everyone’s riding skills. This is the perfect place to get an idea about true West Coast mountain biking.
Lots of climbing takes us on parts of the legendary Test of Metal race course. Glaciated peaks, rainforests and big granite cliffs provide a spectacular backdrop to today’s ride.
Another big climb takes us to the amazing Half Nelson trail. It ws built with budget of 90k dollars and reflects the new style of mountain biking. From there we will ride some more technically challenging trails in dense rain forests in the shadow of the Mt Garibaldi volcanoe.
This morning we drive to Whistler, the 2010 Olympic Winter resort. We will give our uphill legs a break and ride the lift serviced bike park. Today's focus is on skill development. Trail variety ranges from buff to very technically challenging. There are fun trails for all levels of riders to choose. For full enjoyment of the bike park we recommend the rental of a downhill bike for the day (not included)
Today we challenge ourselves on the amazing and internationally recognized Comfortably Numb trail. A long, technical climb takes us through a magical coastal rain forest before we tackle a challenging descent to Lost Lake. From here we continue on an amazing trailnetwork back to Whistler.
We finish the tour by riding the classic Whistler trail “River Runs Through”. This will be an unforgettable experience and you will be amazed how your skills have improved through the week. After we finish the ride at Alta Lake we will celebrate the end of an amazing week of mountain biking at fitting pub.
A shuttle back to Vancouver can be arranged this afternoon. Many guests choose to stay another day in Whistler to relax. We can arrange for another night in the hotel for you here.
